Welcome to Polyglot Go ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

Polyglot Go is built with privacy as a core principle. We believe your conversations are yours alone, and we've designed our app to collect as little data as possible.

Nickname (optional): You may set a display name for chat sessions
Language preference: Your selected language for translation
Message content: Only temporarily for translation via Google ML Kit

Bluetooth metadata: Device connection information (never shared)
App usage data: Which features you use (stored locally only)

2.3 Information We DO NOT Collect

Personal identifiable information (name, email, phone number)
Location data
Contacts or address book
Device unique identifiers for tracking
Third-party analytics or advertising data

3. How We Use Your Information

3.1 Core Functionality

Translation: Messages are sent to Google ML Kit Translation API for real-time translation
Bluetooth Connection: Local peer-to-peer connection (no internet required)
Message History: Stored locally on your device only (if enabled)

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

4.1 Google ML Kit Translation

When you send a message, it's temporarily sent to Google ML Kit Translation API to translate it. Google's privacy policy applies to this translation service. We do not send any identifiable information with translation requests.

4.2 We DO NOT Share Data With:

Advertisers
Data brokers
Marketing companies
Social media platforms
Any other third parties (except as required by law)

5. Data Storage & Security

5.1 Local Storage

All message history is stored locally on your device using SQLite
You can delete messages anytime from the app
Uninstalling the app deletes all local data

5.2 Encryption

End-to-End Encryption: All messages sent via Bluetooth are encrypted with AES-GCM
Transport Security: Translation requests use HTTPS
Local Data: Stored securely using platform-provided encryption

5.3 No Cloud Storage

We do not store any of your data on our servers. Polyglot Go operates entirely peer-to-peer via Bluetooth.

6. Your Rights & Choices

6.1 Access & Control

Message History: Enable/disable in Settings
Delete Messages: Delete individual conversations or all history
Uninstall: All app data is deleted when you uninstall

6.2 GDPR Rights (European Users)

If you're in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:

Access your data
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your data
Object to data processing
Data portability

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise these rights directly through the app.

6.3 CCPA Rights (California Users)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell. Since we don't collect personal information or sell any data, these rights are automatically respected.

7. Children's Privacy

Polyglot Go is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you're a parent and believe your child has used Polyglot Go, please contact us.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via the app or by updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.

9. International Data Transfers

Since Polyglot Go operates peer-to-peer and stores data locally, your data doesn't leave your device except for translation requests to Google ML Kit (which may process data in various countries).

Message History: Stored until you delete it or uninstall the app
App Preferences: Stored until you uninstall the app
Translation Requests: Not stored by us (Google's retention policy applies)
